against forced exposure to formaldehyde
SYMPTOMS
- cuts around the mouth and bleeding lips
- difficulty in breathing which can lead to an anafylactic shock and death
- inflamed joints
- dry, flaky skin
- constant itching of the all over the body and acerbic tingly taste in the mouth
Formaldehyde is commonly used in the chemical industry in cleaning agents, for ecample. There is no cure or medication, what so ever, to formaldehyde allergy. The only official advice given, is to avoid the source of it. Mostly, at home, that's no real problem. One may always choose an allergy-free product instead of a regualr product. Outside the home, however, it is practically impossible for a person to avoid been exposed to the substance. no matter what choices he or she makes. Therefore, the use of formaldehyde must been prohibited where ever a person cannot avoid been exposed to the substance despite the choices he or she makes. As a result, no one will be forced into contact with it. Instead, everyone will be able to make the decision themselves. This will significantly increase the freedom of allergic people giving them a better quality of life.

Formaldehydiä käytetään yleisesti mm. kemianteollisuudessa kuten pesuaineissa. Formaldehydiallergiaan ei ole parantavaa lääkitystä tai muuta hoitoa. Ainoa keino allergisen reaktion estämiseksi on kemikaalin lähteen välttäminen. Kotiympäristössä aineelle altistuminen on suhteellisen helppoa välttää valitsemalla allergiattomia tuotteita tavallisten tuotteiden asemesta. Kodin ulkopuolella, sen sijaan, altistumista ei voi estää edes omilla valinnoilla. Niinpä formaldehydi tulee kieltää siinä määrin kun ihminen ei omilla valinnoillaankaan voi välttyä altistumasta sille. Näin kukaan ei joudu tahdon vastaisesti tekemisiin aineen kanssa, vaan jokainen voi itse päättää asiasta. Tämä lisää allergisten ihmisten vapautta, eikä heidän elämänlaatunsa riipu enää toisten ihmisten valinnoista.
