”Just back from a meeting with President T. Halonen about the corporatization of the Uni issue. We handed in the statement, and expressed all signatories concerns about the future of the Uni. Our view is that recent decisions and actions put at risk the mission of the Uni as an institution that serves the public good. Among others, these concerns are supported by the evaluation report of the restructuring process, by Prof. S. Scott and her colleagues. Pres. Halonen agreed that we should consider the general perspective as well. But she couldn’t give promises, as the decisions are already made. However, she acknowledged that people come to realize nowadays that decisions might not be as right as it was thought initially. She is going to forward the statement and our positions for openness, dialogue, equality and democracy at the Uni to the Board. The Board meeting is taking place at this moment. Stay tuned.”
