It is dangerous to limit and narrow the focus of language teaching, in most cases English. By reducing language teaching to a popular few languages, we deprived people to explore new feelings, concepts and ways of thinking that only exisit in certain languages, e.g. 'sisu' in Finnish, 'khutzpah' in Hebrew, and 'gezellig' in Dutch. In order to truly communicate with with a person, nothing comes close as communicating a message in their mother tongue: the language they were loved in from day one.
