NEGEV (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces demolished the Bedouin village Al-Araqib village on Monday for the 37th time, a political official who witnessed the demolition said.

The Palestinian residents began to immediately rebuild the site, after forces left just a mosque and cemetery standing, PFLP official Ayman Odeh said on return from the village.

If the Israeli authorities knew the people's determination to stay, they would not have bothered to carry out the demolition, he said.

Israel considers Al-Araqib, along with 34 other Bedouin villages in the Negev, an illegal settlement built on state-owned land. Al-Araqib insists the land is their ancestral home.

Israeli forces seize at least 10 in West Bank

HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least ten Palestinians throughout the West Bank overnight Sunday, according to witnesses and military officials.

Locals told Ma'an soldiers raided several homes in southern city Hebron, before detaining Fatima Sader, 24, Fadi Ihrez, 22, Muhammad Amr and Maath Al-Haymooni.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said five people were detained in Hebron, among ten seized overnight. Palestinians were also detained in Ramallah and nearby towns Deir Qadis and al-Bireh, as well as Bethlehem refugee camps al-Duheisha and al-Aida.

Local officials said another four were detained in the West Bank. Wajih Abu Maria, 45, Ahmad Abu Hashem, 16, and Tarek Abu Hashem, 19 were detained in Beit Ummar, popular committee spokesman Muhammad Ayyad Awad said.

In Yatta, municipal officials said Samer Issa Abu Arram, 25, was seized from his home.

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Israeli military vehicles crossed into the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, witnesses told Ma'an.

Four tanks and two bulldozers entered Gaza east of Beit Hanoun, and dug up lands in the border area, they said. Eyewitnesses reported gunshots heard in the area.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said forces were conducting "routine activity" in the area.

BERLIINI. Baijerin osavaltio ilmoitti tiistaina julkaisevansa uudelleen Adolf Hitlerin Mein Kampf -teoksen. Uusi laitos julkaistaan vuonna 2015 ja se on tarkoitus varustaa kriittisillä kommenteilla.

Baijerin osavaltiolla on oikeudet Hitlerin julistuskirjaan. Osavaltio voitti viime kuussa oikeudenkäynnin brittikustantamoa vastaan, joka suunnitteli uuspainosta teoksesta.

Teoksen julkaisulla pyritään poistamaan salamyhkäisyys kirjasta, jonka sivut ovat täynnä vihaa ja vainoharhaista fantasiaa, sanoi Baijerin valtiovarainministeri Markus Söder.

Saksan juutalaisten keskusjärjestö ei halunnut vielä tiistaina kommentoida julkaisuhanketta.

Hitler kirjoitti Taisteluni-kirjan 1924 viruessaan baijerilaisessa vankilassa. Natsi-Saksassa aviopareille annettiin kirja häälahjaksi vuodesta 1936 lähtien.

Jom hazikaron (hepreaksi ‏יום הזכרון לחללי מערכות ישראל ונפגעי פעולות האיבה‎, Israelin kaatuneiden sotilaiden ja terrorismin uhrien muistopäivä) on Israelissa vietettävä kaatuneiden muistopäivä. Sitä vietetään ijar-kuun neljäntenä päivänä Israelin itsenäistymistä seuranneissa sodissa kaatuneiden ja näiden sotien veteraanien kunniaksi. Samoin muistetaan palestiinalaisterroristien uhreina kuolleita siviilejä.

Kaatuneiden muistopäivää seuraa ijar-kuun viidentenä päivänä vietettävä Israelin itsenäisyyspäivä jom ha'atsma'ut. Molemmat juhlat siirretään päivää aikaisemmaksi, mikäli kuun viides päivä osuu sapatiksi. Päivää vietetään juhlavien seremonioiden merkeissä. Juhla alkaa edellisenä iltana kello kahdeksan minuutin kestävällä sireeniäänimerkillä, sillä juutalaisessa kalenterijärjestelmässä vuorokausi alkaa auringon laskiessa. Sireenin soiton aikana useimmat israelilaiset seisovat hiljaa osoittaen näin kunnioitustaan. Virallinen päivän aloittava seremonia tapahtuu Länsimuurilla, ja Israelin lippu lasketaan puolitankoon.

Seuraavana aamuna kello 11 sireeniä soitetaan jälleen, tällä kertaa kaksi minuuttia, ja kaikki liikenne pysähtyy hetkeksi. Päivän aikana ihmiset osallistuvat muistoseremonioihin ja käyvät hautausmailla. Illalla seitsemän ja kahdeksan välillä Israelin itsenäisyyspäivän aloittaa virallinen seremonia Herzl-kukkulalla. Lippu nostetaan jälleen ylös puolitangosta ja tunnelma vaihtuu surullisesta riemukkaaksi.

Israelin valtion ensimmäisinä elinvuosina kaatuneiden muistopäivän päivämäärästä ei päästy sopuun, joten sitä vietettiin aluksi yhdessä Israelin itsenäisyyspäivän kanssa. Juhlien viettäminen samana päivänä osoittautui hankalaksi, joten jom hazikaron siirrettiin päivää aikaisemmaksi vuonna 1951. Järjestely vahvistettiin lailla vuonna 1963. Kaatuneiden muistopäivän viettäminen juuri ennen itsenäisyyspäivää muistuttaa kansalaisia itsenäisyyden hinnasta. Päivä on israelilaisille tärkeä, koska hyvin suuri osa heistä on palvellut maan puolustusvoimissa ja koska monien lähiomaisia kaatui itsenäistymissodissa.

"Your sons and daughters will not return to you... Their bravery has left us alive, but their deaths have left us broken," he said in his opening speech.

"The state of Israel, for which your children sacrificed their lives... is still threatened," he said, adding that the IDF is more prepared than ever to defend Israeli citizens from any and all threats.

Speaking after Peres, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz called the IDF Israel's wall of defense. "We live in a different Middle East than the one we used to," he said, adding that "threats are rising all around us. In this precarious situation, we are witness to attempts by our enemies, near and far, to hurt us.

That said, Gantz praised his soldiers, saying that "while we are here, the IDF is out in the field, united around its goal to protect us."

"The IDF is ready for every battle and every mission," he stated.

The ceremony ended with a Jewish prayer for the fallen soldiers and the singing of Israel's national anthem, Hatikva.

Earlier Tuesday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed more than 200 soldiers and bereaved families gathered for the Yad Lebanim Memorial for the Fallen in Israel’s Wars.

“For bereaved families, time stops when you get the terrible news… it cuts your life in two: what was before, and what will never be again,”he said.

“When you hear the siren tonight, we will turn into one family, and the citizens of Israel will be united in our remembrance,” Netanyahu said at the ceremony, where he was joined by Chief Rabbis Yona Metzger and Shlomo Amar, as well as Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin and representatives of the police, army, and Home Front Command.

Yad Lebanim (“A Memorial for the Sons”) is the organization that supports bereaved families in cooperation with the Defense Ministry and official government bodies. The Jerusalem memorial, located near the government quarter, is the central memorial for soldiers killed in action in the capital.

Netanyahu spoke to the bereaved families as “my sisters and brothers,” drawing on his own experience of losing his brother, Yonatan Netanyahu, in the Entebbe rescue mission in 1976.

Nava Cohen, who lost her brother in the Yom Kippur War and her son in Hebron during the Second Intifada, spoke on behalf of the bereaved families. “We are always looking for more parts of our son,” she said. “We’re always trying to gather another sentence, another memory, another photograph, so that we can continue to live with our son.” Cohen said the hardest part was following the chain of photographs – from childhood through school and bike trips and finally to the soldier in uniform – until the photos stop abruptly.

Other ceremonies will take place across Israel as the country memorializes those lost in wars and terror attacks with sirens at 8 pm on Tuesday night and 11 am on Wednesday. The Prime Minister will speak at both the official ceremony for the fallen in Israel’s Wars on Wednesday morning as well as the state ceremony for the Victims of Terrorism in Israel and Abroad.

History Of Yom Ha'atzmaut

Yom Ha'atzmaut centres around the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel by The Jewish Leadership led by future Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, on 14 May 1948. This was declared 8 hours before the end of the British Mandate of Palestine, which was due to finish on 15 May 1948.

An official ceremony is held every year on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem on the evening of Yom Ha'atzmaut. The ceremony includes a speech by the speaker of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament), artistic performances, a Flag of Israel, forming elaborate structures (such as a Menorah, Magen David and the ceremonial lighting of twelve torches, one for each of the Tribes of Israel). Every year a dozen Israeli citizens, who made a significant social contribution in a selected area, are invited to light the torches. Many cities hold outdoor performances in cities' squares featuring leading Israeli singers and fireworks displays. Streets around the squares are closed to cars, allowing people to sing and dance in the streets.

Israeli families, regardless of observance or affiliation, celebrate with picnics and barbecues (known in Israeli slang as a mangal – from the Arabic word منقل meaning "stove"). Balconies are decorated with Israeli flags, and small flags are attached to car windows. Some leave the flags hoisted until after Yom Yerushalayim. Israeli Television channels air the official events live, and classic cult Israeli movies and skits are shown.

The Chief Rabbinate along with many other religious authorities have declared that Yom Ha'atzmaut is one of the Jewish holidays in which Hallel should be said.
The Religious Zionist movement has created a liturgy for the holiday, which sometimes includes the recitation of some psalms and the reading of a portion of the Prophets (Haftarah) on the holiday morning. Segments of the Religious Zionist camp, has promoted the inclusion of a version of Al Hanisim (for the Miracles...). This segment includes Rav David Bar Hayim of the Hardal camp who heads Machon Shilo Institute[3] and The Temple Institute. The Reform Movement has also suggested such an addition.
Other changes to the daily prayers include reciting Hallel, saying the expanded Pesukei D'Zimrah of Shabbat (the same practice that is observed almost universally on Hoshanah Rabbah), and/or blowing the Shofar. Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik, questioned the Halachic imperative in canonising these changes (it is not clear what his personal practice was - some of his student claim that he recited Hallel and some claim that he remained silent while the congregation recited Hallel).[4]
The Conservative Movement instituted the reading of a Torah portion for the day as well as the inclusion of a version of Al Hanisim (for the Miracles...), which is commonly recited on Hanukkah and Purim. Some Conservative synagogues also read the haftarah Isaiah 10:32–12:6, which is also read on the last day of Pesach.
The Reform Movement suggests the inclusion of Ya'leh V'yavo. An addition to the Amidah that is also included on Rosh Chodesh (the New Month), Shalosh Regalim (the Pilgrimage Festivals), Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur.
A few Hasidim and Haredim recite Hallel while many others make no changes in their daily prayers.

Declaration of the State of Israel
Yom Ha'atzmaut is nominally celebrated on the 5th day of Iyar (ה' באייר) in the Hebrew calendar, the anniversary of the day in which Israel independence was proclaimed, when David Ben-Gurion publicly read the Israeli Declaration of Independence. The corresponding Gregorian date was May 14, 1948.
If the 5th of Iyar falls on a Friday or Saturday, the celebrations are moved up to the preceding Thursday. This rule has been effective since 1951.
If the 5th of Iyar is on a Monday, the festival is postponed to Tuesday. This rule has been effective since 2004, in order to avoid having Yom Hazikaron or Yom Ha'atzmaut on (or following) a Shabbat.
Since the only other day of the week that the 5th of Iyar can fall on is a Wednesday, it is actually now relatively rare for the festival to be observed on the 5th Iyar itself.

Non-Zionist events

Some Arab citizens of Israel celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut but some regard it as a tragic day in their history and call it al-Nakba ("the catastrophe") [5][6] The Druze have celebrated Israel's independence from the start.[7] Independence Day has also been celebrated by the Bedouins and the Circassians of Israel.[8]
Some ultra-orthodox anti-Zionist Jews display a black flag and wear ashes and sackcloth as a sign of mourning. Members of the Satmar, Toldos Aaron, Toldos Avraham Yitzchak,and Munkatch sects fast to atone for what they view as the sin of having created the Jewish state before the coming of the Messiah. Some even fast on this day and some recite prayers for fast days. But to most Jews, this is one of the biggest days of the year.[9]
